Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly dedicated and compassionate individual to join our team as a Child Welfare Case Worker. As a key member of our organization, you will be responsible for providing essential support and intervention services to children and families involved in the child welfare system. Your primary goal will be to ensure the safety, well-being, and permanency of children through comprehensive case management and advocacy.
Responsibilities:
1. Conduct thorough assessments to determine the needs and risks faced by children and families involved in the child welfare system.
2. Develop and implement individualized case plans, incorporating appropriate interventions and services to address identified needs.
3. Collaborate with families, service providers, and community resources to facilitate access to necessary support services and ensure the provision of quality care.
4. Conduct frequent home visits to monitor progress, assess safety, and provide ongoing support and guidance to families.
5. Maintain accurate and up-to-date case documentation, including case notes, assessments, and progress reports, in compliance with agency policies and procedures.
6. Prepare and present case reports for court hearings, ensuring a comprehensive understanding of the child's circumstances and recommended interventions.
7. Advocate for the best interests of children and families within the child welfare system, promoting their rights and ensuring they receive appropriate services and resources.
8. Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings, case conferences, and training sessions to enhance knowledge, skills, and collaboration within the child welfare field.
9. Stay current with relevant legislation, regulations, and best practices in child welfare, and apply this knowledge in daily practice.
10. Maintain confidentiality and adhere to professional ethics and standards while working with sensitive and confidential information.
Qualifications:
1. Bachelor's degree in Sociology, Social Work, Psychology, or a related field. A Master's degree is highly preferred.
2. Proven experience in child welfare, case management, or a related field, with a deep understanding of child development, family dynamics, and trauma-informed care.
3. Strong knowledge of applicable laws, regulations, and best practices relevant to child welfare and protection.
4. Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, to effectively interact with clients, families, colleagues, and external stakeholders.
5. Ability to assess risk, make sound judgments, and develop appropriate intervention plans in complex and challenging situations.
6. Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams and establish effective working relationships with diverse populations.
7. Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple cases, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines.
8. Proficient computer skills, including experience with case management software and Microsoft Office Suite.
9. Valid driver's license and access to a reliable vehicle for home visits and transportation of clients, as required.
10. Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with professionalism and discretion.
